The CDC reports that 1 in 5 adults in New Jersey have a disability. The Hunterdon County Department of Public Safety, in partnership with the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office, is proud to offer the Special Needs Registry to our community.
In 2020, The Hunterdon County Department of Human Services partnered with the Hunterdon County Sheriff's Office, with the idea to bring resources, education, and services to the community to address the opioid epidemic. The Hunterdon County Department of Human Services was awarded an Innovation Grant from the State of New Jersey to outfit a Hope One vehicle.
Project Lifesaver utilizes state-of-the-art technologies to supplement existing public safety operations for emergency service response to lost and wandering person who suffer from Alzheimers and other Disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury, Autism and People with Developmental or Intellectual Disabilities.
