VOLUNTEER DRIVER
Overview
The Volunteer Driver Program provides transportation to senior citizens and persons with disability for specialized medical appointments (not otherwise available in Hunterdon County).
Provision of service is limited; subject to the availability of Volunteer Drivers.
This service is available Monday to Friday.
Appointments at the Doctor Office should be scheduled between the hours of 9:30 am and 2:30 pm

Eligibility
Transportation is available to Hunterdon County senior citizen residents and persons with a disability for specialized medical appointments not otherwise available in Hunterdon County.
Provision of service is limited; subject to the availability of Volunteer Drivers.
This is a first come first served service available; at the discretion of the County Transportation Coordinator.

Fares
All Senior Passengers will receive a cost share envelope with a suggested Fare of $5.00 one way, all tolls and parking fees are to be paid at time of occurrence by the passenger.
If under 60 and disabled a Fare of $10.00 round trip will be collected at time of boarding the vehicle. All tolls and parking fees are to be paid at time of occurrence by the passenger.
The County is not responsible for any fees assessed to the patient for missed Doctor Appointments due to inclement weather, traffic or other reasons beyond our control.
Request Service
To request transportation to a Specialized Medical Appointment outside of Hunterdon County please call 1-800-842-0531 at least 2 weeks in advanced of your appointment
Before placing the call please have the time of the appointment, Doctor’s name, address and phone number ready.
Once a Volunteer Driver is scheduled you will receive a phone call about 1 week before your appointment with the pick up time and driver’s first name.
The County is not responsible for any fees assessed to the patient for missed Doctor Appointment s due to inclement weather, traffic or other reasons beyond our control.

Cancel Service
If you need to cancel the trip, you must call 1-800-842-0531 at least 24 hours in advance.
NO SHOWS: If the driver arrives at your pick up location and you no longer need the trip this is considered a no show and further Volunteer Trip requests may be denied.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: The Volunteer Drivers Trips are scheduled with LINK but the actual Drivers report to the Department of Human Services. If the LINK is closed that does not automatically cancel your trip. If the LINK Service is closed due to inclement weather, please immediately contact the Department of Human Services by calling 908-788-1368 to check the status of your trip or to cancel your trip.
